The PAX Library of Courses offers a wide variety of courses for both training and hiring. So as you might expect, one of the most common question we hear from our new members is, “What order should I assign courses in?”. Although there is no right or wrong answer below is an outline that will help you get started!
1. Start Before You Hire
The best time to start using PAX is during the hiring process. PAX pre-hire assessments are designed to help both you and applicants. In addition to performing an assessment on Character, Competency & Chemistry, the assessment will explain the roles and responsibilities. This will help ensure that before someone ever hits your payroll they understand what is going to be expected of them. It will also give you a view into if they will be able to live up to those expectations. If you haven’t already, now is also a great a time to check out our, 7 Tips for Hiring Drivers.
2. HR & Company Introduction
If you have a PAX Company Membership and have created your own courses for your HR and onboarding process you want to assign theses either at the time of hire, right before training starts or on their first day. You can find some examples of the types of custom HR & onboarding courses you might want to create in our post, What Custom Courses should I create?
3. Core Service & Safety
All great things that stand the test of time are built on solid foundations.
Regardless of the final vehicle they will be driving all drivers need a solid foundation for their training to be built on. The Core Service & Safety series of courses is the first step. These courses are designed to teach the fundamentals that their training will be build on.
4. Advanced Safety & Service
Once the fundamentals are in place it is time to start building on those concepts and deepen their understanding. The Advanced Safety & Service courses take key concepts learned in Core Safety & Service and take them further. This allows for a deeper understanding while building up what was already learned.
5. COVID-19 Courses
Although everyone is hopeful that the COVID-19 pandemic that has gone around the globe will soon be over it is important that drivers, office staff and other team members have techniques they can use to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
6. Role Specific Courses
Just like when you go to college, once you have your fundamentals that apply to all fields you need to get specific to what you will be doing.
